Delighted to be part of it. Dmitry, my 12 year old son, thoroughly enjoyed it as well.
A great weekend I have cycled lots of events race around Ireland wild Atlantic way twice in 6 week Paris Brest Paris around Iceland and more but this 28 miles on my dads old bike with all the other old bike was the best 28 miles i have cycled so thanks to you all and roll on next year
Great to be part of it !
Great weekend folks. First one for me, wont be the last and I will be bringing more folks with me next time. With all the exotic state of the art carbon in my basement it was great to bring the older inhabitants out for a little fresh air with folks who appreciate them ! I am already looking into something special for the concourse for next year. My buddy Eamon Hartley and his Rapparee better watch their backs, ha ! Being a Waterford man I am probably biased, but it was a great location, fantastic buzz around the place especially on the Sunday. The vanilla slice from The Coachouse at the end made grinding a 44x23 up a 25% gradient on a 25lb bike worth it. Good to meet everyone, see y'all next year. Or probably for L'Eroica Brittania before that
......well done to the organisers! Super stuff
I'd also like to say a big thank you to Brendan and chapeau to all the OldVelos crew and sponsors for putting on an amazing show. What a fantastic location to host the event. Certainly getting bigger and better every year. You finally managed to get me onto the splendid Waterford greenway. 😉 Sorry I couldn't get a pass for the weekend and didn't spend as much time as I wanted on Saturday checking out the machinery on display but 3yr olds don't stay still for long. One last thing, you now proudly hold the title of best event goodie bag.....ever!!!
Brilliant day out would highly recommend it!
Just wanted to say thanks for last Saturday, really enjoyed the day, fantastic venue and a really nice bunch of people, great to be back to some degree after covid and attend such an event. Hope to see you in 2022.
‘Just wanted to say ’Thanks a million’ for a fantastic memorable day yesterday .
Venue was superb, organisation superb, all staff Marshall’s sound and great fun and very personable.
Route fantastic, a range of participants all different backgrounds, great people.’
Of all the cycling events I have participated in, this one definitely ranks at the top! First, looking at those beautiful bicycles really shows the *love* the proud owners of these relics have for their bikes. Then, I really felt welcomed to the family, a great group of riders that were there to enjoy a gorgeous event. Finally, the organization was amazing, with the marshals waiting for us along the way, making sure we all took the right turns. And the route was to die for (yes, I nearly died in a few of the climbs 😉 )... I came with my wife (not a cyclist) who enjoyed a tour of the Curraghmore House... In brief, a very unique event... Thank you to all the organizers, sponsors and participants for making this possible!
I started a vintage bike project during lock down, It's a1986 vitus carbon 3, it was missing the SSC1000 group set & for over 2yrs now I have just managed to complete the set by getting parts as you all know from far & wide, sometimes buying another bike just to get one part 🙄,
it was the entusiasuim of the oldvelos from the footage I had come across on Facebook a couple of years ago that gave me a purpose of completing the bike in such detail, for me to attend the festival one day & share the knowledge I have gained during the long process of the build with fellow cyclists that would appreciate my effort, that little dream I had from the start ( that cost me a small Fortune & the wife is still none the wiser to this day 🤔 & why we had no holidays for 2yrs 😜)
It came to fruition last weekend, when I attended the festival & I can honestly say that I can't wait for next year,I had such a great time meeting all that attended,
I was made very welcome by all, had loads of laughs & cried also sharing the pain from the hills on our route that was put together by the Brendan, paul & the rest of the oldvelos team
To all kinds of cyclists from vintage or modern bikes I would highly recommend the oldvelos festival of cycling, It's a chance to get out on your bike & have a different kind of cycle that's relaxed & fun & most important it's with great people
Thanks to all involved
See you all next year,
Had a great day and the bikes on show amazing. Well done👍👍👍👍
Seeing a mutual love of self propelled two wheels, I jumped in both feet, not knowing what to expect from attending and participating in my first OldVelos Cycling Festival. My gal, our bikes and I were welcomed by all the OldVelos tribe with open arms and smiles, sharing adventure, stories, laughs and a few brews along the way. Brilliant group of enthusiasts, with some new friends made. Curraghmore House was a gorgeous venue, and the events were well planned and organized. Can't wait for next year!
