Ciclo Club Eroica visit to Velodromo Vigorelli

Members of Ciclo Club Eroica had the good fortune to be invited to a unique event in the iconic Velodromo Vigorelli in Milan.

Velodromo Vigorelli is a 397-metre (434 yd; 1,302 ft) semi-covered wooden steeply banked track, the banking is 42° at its maximum steepness.

The UCI Track Cycling World Championships was hosted in this venue in 1939, 1951, 1955 and 1962. From 1935 to 1967, the hour record was set in this velodrome by nine different cyclists, including ‘Il Campionissimo’ Fausto Coppi.

In recent years the Velodrome fell into disrepair but, as you will see from the photographs it has now been refurbished and soon will be returned to its former glory.

At the Velodrome Colnago had three of their famous track bikes on show:

Colnago Master Crono Pista

Master Pista Equilateral

C 42

After the event in the Velodromo we adjourned to the Eroica Caffe for dinner. Elena and Jacek organised a fantastic event and we are looking forward meeting our fellow Ciclo Club members again in 2024.
