OldVelos future Events

Last year marked the 10th anniversary for the ‘OldVelos’. During that time we have put on many events of various types in various locations. All the events had a ‘vintage theme’. The first event was in Wicklow but we have also run events in Cork, Laois, Kerry, Waterford and Dublin. This year we are heading to Cashel, Co. Tipperary for a Ride-Out on Saturday the 31st of August.

Our ‘Ride-Out’ marks a new event for OldVelosMost people will be familiar with the OldVelos  Festival of Cycling at the fabulous Curraghmore House, this been our flagship event and included a range of spins of different lengths and levels of difficulty as well as Guest Speakers, stalls selling parts and the popular ‘Velo Expo‘ and the hotly contested Conours d’Elegance’.

Our ride out this year will have us meet in Cashel, Sat, 31st August, 10am and explore the first half of the beautiful St. Declans Way. This is a new location for us and we hope we will see our ‘Usual Suspects’ as well as new comers who might find this location more accessible

Our route covers 55 miles but with plenty of opt-outs if riders prefer a shorter return home. We’ll take a break at Goatenbridge and return on backroads. Start point TBC.

Brendan and Ger have already checked out the route as you will see from the Gallery Below. Don’t be put off by the ‘Rough Stuff’ that B & G did, we will be using the more rideable sections of the SDW.

(even though we will not be using all the trails that Bren & Ger used, be advised to maybe consider 700×28 tyres for some of the gravel roads.)

Back in Cashel, venue TBC, we’ll award the coveted ‘Longford Vintage Tractor Spares Trophy’ for the winner of the Concours d’Elégance for most beautiful bike ridden on the day.

In the meantime check out www.stdeclansway.ie. for more information.

Now some exciting news! In order to grow our community we will be forming a club and registering the ‘OldVelos CC’ in 2025. This will allow us to run more events country wide with the support of Cycling Ireland.
