OldVelos Festival of cycling 2023

This years event was a ‘pared back’ event for a number of reasons. Nonetheless it was agreed by those who attended that it was still a success. The centre piece of the show was definitely Russell Tracy’s exhibition of Seán Kelly’s bikes and memorabilia.
The ‘Concours d’Elegance’ once again saw some stunning and rare bikes. We are always amazed at the standard and work people put into preparing bikes for the competition. Once again Fintan Foley took the top award, more about his bike later. The ‘Keeper of the Flame award went to Owen Byrne for his Donard Gravel Bike. Second place went to Brian Jones and joint third went to Paul Kelly and David Moore. Colin Humphreys got the award for the Best Collection.
Here are some of the bikes, what is great about the event is that the bikes aren’t ‘Trailer Queens’ and most of them are used regularly.
But of course the event is about the people who take part:
(thanks to our photographers: Ronan Ryan & John Hammer and to Sam Hennessy who ‘held the fort’ while we were out enjoying ourselves!)
