Bike of the Month – July 2023
After a long absence ‘Bike of the Month’ is back with a very interesting Cannondale from our regular contributor Andrea Virgillito of Turin in Italy.
Here is what he has to say about this bike:
‘I was on the hunt for a Six13 for a quite while. Despite my love for vintage steel bikes I was always fascinated by the alu/carbon lugged frame made by Cannondale in the early 2000. When I came across this model I was straight away captivated. But there was something odd about the paintjob. It wasn’t the classic raw/ white graphic I was expecting . It resembled some team bike with the orange details and the sponsors on the seatstay, but I wasn’t able to find any other info.
With some more digging and thanks to some infoformation from the previous owner I found out that this was the road bike made for training on roads for the official Cannondale/Vredstein MTB team in 2007 in north Italy (hence the paintjob which is actually copy the Cannondale Scalpel official MTB team)
Even though the six13 was made in large numbers this particular paintjob made this model probably 1 out of 5 made, and I personally think that the MTB orange graphics simply look perfect on this frame.‘

Other information:
Once the deal was made and the bike was in my hands I fitted the set Ksyrium wheels with orange details, I changed the handlebars for ones with a more comfortable compact drop and wrapped them in orange tape. I used a brand new fizik saddle and the bike ‘was good to go!’.
I never consider the weight when in comes to build/customising a bike, but, just out of curiosity I put this one on the weighing scales, and I was really pleased seeing the needle stopping just on the 6.8 kg !
